Microsoft launches a more affordable Elite controller

If you’ve looked at the price of the Xbox Elite controller thinking that $179 is just too much money and “if only it were $50 cheaper,” you might be in luck. Microsoft has launched a more affordable variant of the Elite controller in the form of the “Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core”.

This new controller offers gamers a mid-tier option that includes a list of features that still set it apart from normal wireless controllers. Features like adjustable-tension thumbsticks, shorter trigger locks, rubberized wrap-around grips, exclusive button mapping options, up to 40 hours of battery life (rechargeable), and more.

With a price tag of $129, it’s still quite expensive, but only for average gamers. As far as competitive and professional users go, it’s a whole new story. There’s a lot to be gained from these customizations and features when it comes to having an edge over the competition. Not only that, but players can upgrade it later into what would be the full Elite controller (for the most part).

The new controller will ship starting September 20 at 9:00 PM PST, but it can already be pre-ordered everywhere (links/buttons below). It is (currently) only available in white (with black handles).
